I see you finished in 36:41, a great time too. I do remember meeting you in the doorway at Mersham as we podered if the rain might stop, wishful thinking in hindsight. See you next year!Rushihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07319547221887363538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5530483116490544076.post-63216217712339793982012-06-16T12:37:47.939-07:002012-06-16T12:37:47.939-07:00Sorry forgot to add it was my first 100 marathons ...Sorry forgot to add it was my first 100 marathons more my thingMark garratthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15788937951142637862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5530483116490544076.post-54552299473607310042012-06-16T12:33:36.682-07:002012-06-16T12:33:36.682-07:00Great log summed me up to a t . I finished with 8 hours Plus slower than antitipated but without my wife's support I would have dropped out for sure . I think I talked to you at mersham when we was about to go outside you said that you'd gone back in once for another cuppa . I switched to full waterproofs and walked through the night which was probly the reason I finished as I kept warm . I'm going to have a another go next year hope to see you there alsoMark garratthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15788937951142637862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5530483116490544076.post-79085064726219044062012-06-13T07:56:14.934-07:002012-06-13T07:56:14.934-07:00Wow, what a story. You captured the privations perfectly like I remember from years ago in my early Hundreds before I had fully waterproof kit. With the right kit you'll feel warm, dry and contented regardless of the weather.

Buy a high quality waterproof / breathable hooded jacket for next year and take windproof trousers in case it gets really cold and wet, then start with the 12:00 runners if the checkpoint opening times allow it at your speed, and you'll finish, I guarantee it.

Inadequate gear leading to chills and low mental ebb, and lack of people to run with to share the navigation, were your downfall this year. Without those severe impediments I know you can do it.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07454804247569172043noreply@blogger.com
